Finding the Right Fit Decision-Making Interactive Online Training
After thirty-one years of lawyering, I will be closing my law practice on December 31, 2019. This is my final Article.
If you are trying to help a loved one make decisions, are a court-appointed conservator/guardian for a loved one or are a professional looking for ways to explain to your clients complicated concepts such as supported decision-making, powers of attorney or the concept of guardianships/conservatorships, the National Center for State Courts has launched “Finding the Right Fit: Decision-Making Supports and Guardianship”.
It is an online training to support someone who needs help making decisions and managing life. The course explains legal concepts in plain language. The training also offers realistic scenarios to help users develop strategies for their own lives.
Finding the Right Fit provides information and guidance on:
* How to support friends and loved ones in making their own choices about their health, finances, and lifestyle.
* Legal options, including powers of attorney and advance directives.
* How to become a guardian.
* How a guardian can support a person’s decision-making.
* Identifying and understanding the risk of abuse, neglect, and exploitation that comes with any of the above options.
The training is available at: https://eji.courtlms.org.
It has been my privilege to provide legal services to thousands of individuals and businesses and I appreciate the opportunity to have served you.
