Premium Lenses For Cataract Surgery
Nowadays having cataracts is both bad news and good news! The bad news, of course, is that surgery is required to restore your vision. The good news is that when the cataract, or cloudy lens inside your eye is removed a prescription lens in inserted which is unique to your eye and corrects your vision. Lens implants are available to correct near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism. Multifocal lens implants are now widely used to allow a person to both read and see distance without glasses. Some patients tell me that they tried progressive bifocals and could not get used to them. The multifocal lens implants are different than progressive lenses. Although there is an adaptation period, one does not have to hunt for that “sweet spot” that they can see through. Unlike progressive lenses, lens implants offer a wide field of vision for both distance and close-up seeing.
Premium lens implants are for those individuals who wish to have good everyday functional vision without having to carry glasses around with them. Not everyone is a candidate for such lenses. One should have healthy retinas and no significant eye diseases like advanced glaucoma. Dry eye syndrome can also affect the visual outcome in cataract surgery and needs to be treated sufficiently. We are fortunate to be one of the few providers of IPL treatment for dry eye syndrome. We have been using this technology for 3½ years and have found it to be better than any other treatment in terms of successfully alleviating dry eye symptoms, even in very difficult cases.
Sometimes laser vision correction is needed to refine the outcome of cataract surgery, particularly for those who have had laser vision correction in the past. We have state of the art equipment for laser vision correction and are the only center in Santa Clarita to offer these services right here in town.
We also have an outpatient surgery center located in our building. This offers our patients greater convenience than having the procedure done in a hospital setting.
If you have been diagnosed with cataracts or have noticed a decline in your vision, call 661-259-3937 to make an appointment for an evaluation.
