The Best Back to School Tool
The best back to school supplies can make a student feel prepared, confident and even cool. Those great feelings from new clothes and supplies are fleeting. How long does a new outfit feel new? How long until the new backpack is tattered, faded or even lost? Stuff is not the answer. The best thing a student can take to school is confidence. Which is something that most kids lack these days. Why should you care if you or your family is confident? Because a confident person isn’t afraid to make mistakes and follow their heart. And most obviously a confident person believes them self and gets better results. For example, a baseball player going up to home plate with his bat doesn’t want to hear about the last time he struck out. That would likely hurt his performance. But if he could remember the last time, he hit a homerun that boost in confidence will statistically improve his performance. I
I have worked with many young people who have or are being bullied. I can tell you two things about bullies; they pick on others to feel better about themselves and they always look to bully others those who lack confidence.
Often times, I work with bullied kids. I find much of the bullying (of grade school age children) happens on the schoolyard or during “PE” class. I have observed over my 20+ years of coaching and mentoring that the majority of bullied kids that I have worked with, or interviewed, lacked athletic confidence or they’ve never been taught how to catch or throw or dribble a ball.
At Ignition Fitness, we build confidence in our members (young and old) with super obstacles, milestones, and challenges you can achieve at every age and every fitness level. We start every class with handshakes, kids or adults, and at the end of every class we have a story of perspective on gratefulness and a member is picked to high-five every member of the class. Then we finish with the expression “grateful and happy”.
Confidence is something we learn through habit it’s not innate and it comes and goes as we take on the ups and downs of life. Confidence, however, is something we can really help our kids with. At Ignition Fitness we’ve developed programs that build confidence and character! Please feel free to contact us at 661-425-7770.
