Assistance League

 The many philanthropic programs of Assistance League® Santa Clarita are funded by our Community Partners, our special events, and Assistance League Resale. Periodically, we like to highlight a few of our programs.
Operation School Bell® is our signature program, giving assistance to families in need. It is underway, providing approximately 2, 900 public-school children in the Santa Clarita Valley, accompanied by their parents, the opportunity to shop for new school clothes and shoes. We appreciate the cooperation of Old Navy in Stevenson Ranch. Three nights per week for two months, they open their doors to our families and volunteers to make Assistance League shopping events possible.
Another favorite, Teddy Bear Patrol, was begun as the first philanthropic program of our Santa Clarita chapter in 1989 and continues to this day. We give new teddy bears to community first- responders to be placed in their vehicles. The bears are also given to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital to be placed in the Emergency Department, and to several other agencies in the Santa Clarita Valley that serve children and families. When children are found to be in a traumatic situation, a firefighter, law enforcement officer or medical personnel can give them a bear to provide comfort. Each year Assistance League Santa Clarita provides approximately 1000 of these comforting teddy bears to children in our community.
