Healthcare for Pets
With all that’s being talked about in the news about healthcare for people, and without getting into that debate, I thought it would be good to mention a few things about pet insurance coverage. There are several companies offering pet health insurance coverage. They each offer a variety of policies with differing coverage depending on the pet’s condition, age, and individual needs. We don’t represent any of these companies – they are independently owned.
Typically, the pet owner shops the different insurance companies, gets a quote and is issued a policy suitable to their needs. When the pet is seen by the veterinarian, the pet owner pays the bill and presents a claim form to the veterinarian to fill in the appropriate information regarding the pet’s treatment, and the owner submits the form and is reimbursed accordingly.
In cases of an unforeseen emergency or accident, having insurance can make things easier to manage. In case of a pre-existing condition, make sure to check with the insurance company regarding coverage.
There is another way of dealing with medical costs for your pet. There is a company that can approve you for a “medical credit card” over the phone right in the veterinary office. This credit card will have a limit and you can use it in a revolving manner.
VIP considers it a privilege to have people trust us with their pets. We are dedicated to providing the latest in veterinary medical and surgical techniques and care with the purpose of keeping pets healthy.
