Waiting for Joy
I am a new grandparent and I am amazed at the change life has brought. My youngest daughter is 23 and you quickly forget what it’s like to have a baby in your life. There was great expectation when her parents told us they were expecting and thrills when she finally arrived. Life’s little joys begin again. There is excitement when her parents bring her over. When asked to babysit, somehow your schedule becomes free. Everything she does is cute and entertaining.
In the same way we have a sense of excitement waiting for a baby, don’t let the hustle and bustle of the season allow you to miss the joy Jesus can bring. The songs that are sung, the decorations that are hung, are designed to infuse excitement in this season. We can hear the words of the angels to the shepherds in the field, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
What will bring you joy? It won’t be in the shopping, the gift giving, or even the holiday parties we will attend this year. Find joy and excitement in those little things that often bring joy to a child: being able to run, play, spending time with family, watching a favorite television show and having a good laugh. Most of all find joy in knowing a Savior that loved you even when you did not know Him. As the angel told the shepherds, “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
We invite you to Santa Clarita Christian Fellowship Church to celebrate the joys of the season and God’s special love He has for us. Our address is 27754 Church Street in Castaic. Our services are Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Childcare is provided at both services.
