A Very Special Holiday Season
This holiday, instead of being home with family and friends eating, drinking, and opening gifts, we instead embarked on a wonderful road trip to bring a family of pigs home to The Gentle Barn. A female pig was purchased to be eaten on Christmas, but when she unexpectedly gave birth the family wanted to save her, instead of eating her. They were in Washington State and no one in the surrounding area could take in the family, but we had room in our Santa Clarita barnyard, so we decided to go get them. We drove for two days, loaded the young mom and her eight tiny babies in our Beyond Meat rescue Trailer, and then drove twenty-two hours straight through the night to arrive home the next morning. The family is adjusting beautifully to life at The Gentle Barn and we are thrilled to have them! How long will she nurse them? When and how will she wean them? Will they want to stay together when grown or will they want to individuate? All these questions and more will be answered on this wonderful piggy adventure. Come be a part of it and visit on a Sunday, or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. The cuteness is amazing!
The Gentle Barn is a national organization that rescues animals from severe abuse and neglect, rehabilitates them, and then partners with them to heal people with the same stories, and connect children to the love and magic of animals. We are open to the public on Sundays and host private tours, school field trips, birthday parties, and groups of underserved children and adults. Visit www.gentlebarn.org for more information.
