Remodels for Entertaining and Hosting
When it comes to the kitchen and living room, there are plenty of ways to make the best use of the space so that guests can easily maneuver about and you can feel less confined.
Kitchen Renovation
Install an Island
It may seem counter intuitive to break up a kitchen with an island, but the central counter space actually adds direction to the kitchen. It also adds storage, which allows you to move the china cabinet or bakers rack out of the kitchen.
Utilize Corners
The key is making the most of the space you have. If your kitchen has a random corner in it, consider installing a corner cabinet. This design allows for more storage without protruding into your useable space.
Nook Seating
If your dining area and kitchen share space, consider a breakfast nook. By building seats right into the wall, you can maximize the open square footage and make good use out of wall space.
Living Room Remodel
Built-In Entertainment system
Make the most of your wall space with a central built-in entertainment system. This allows you to replace excess furniture for storage with additional seating.
Make the Floor Level
This tip may require some explanation. Many homes are built with steps leading into and out of each space. You walk up the front steps to the front door. Then, you walk down steps into the living room. Another set of steps leads into the kitchen. This causes an inefficient use of space. By leveling the first story of your home, you can recoup some square footage.
Built-In Lighting
While floor laps may not take up that much room, sconces and recess lighting do offer nicer lighting.
