Teacher Spotlight Tiffany Bernier
We’ve all heard the expression “teachers who change lives.” Well, you don’t have to look far to find one in Santa Clarita. Valencia High School’s AP Psychology teacher, Tiffany Bernier, recently received a “Claes Nobel Educator of the Year Award” by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).
Ms. Bernier began her career at a junior high school in Stevenson Ranch. Ms. Bernier dedicates her career to enriching academic proficiency in special education students. She does this through collaborating with other teachers to remediate course curriculum. Since she started her position at Valencia High School, Ms. Bernier significantly improved student participation in the AP Psychology class to 800 percent. Additionally, she serves as a faculty advisor for numerous clubs, including Operation Rainbow and an LGBTQ+ organization, named Quiltbag.
NSHSS established the Claes Nobel Educator of the Year Award to spotlight the achievements of the most outstanding educators in the United States. According to Claes Nobel, great nephew of Alfred Nobel, the program embraces his family’s tradition of recognizing world class minds and supports NSHSS’ vision to help students grow and have a positive impact on the global community. NSHSS is a distinguished academic honor society committed to recognizing and serving the highest-achieving student scholars around the world. It offers access to invaluable scholarships and a network of more than 1.7 million peers spanning high school to college and career.
