New Technology For Sinus Treatment and Nose Blockage
“I take antibiotics constantly, decongestants, allergy meds yet the pressure and pain around my eyes continues for weeks despite many doctor visits. I know I need a procedure yet I really don’t want any nose-sinus surgery with painful packing in the nose and I also don’t want surgery under general anesthesia!”
The ENT doctors at SCENT have solutions for your nose-sinus problems!
Balloon sinuplasty is a new technique that has been perfected over the last decade that addresses these complaints. After an initial consultation followed by medical treatment, patients may then be offered a small catheter technique done under topical anesthesia with oral medications as sedation. The technique is called Endoscopic Balloon Sinuplasty. The procedure takes less than 50 mins that includes local anesthetic blocking of nerves of the nose and time for oral sedative meds to take effect. Each sinus is then gently dilated with the balloon catheter and irrigated with saline to flush the infection and inflammatory tissue. The balloon is then gently removed to reveal open sinus pores. Each sinus is opened by using the balloon to dilate the narrowed eggshell thickness opening to the sinuses.
Techniques are added to stop post-nasal drip by utilizing radiowave treatment of the nasal membranes and patients with snoring and nose blockage, we may place dissolvable SPIROX LATERA implants to prevent nostril collapse.
Results have been excellent and we are now able to perform these techniques in our comfortable office procedure center. Patients range in age from young teens to the elderly and the average time off work is two days.
Insurance companies including Medicare are now fully covering these procedures.
