Student Spotlight Valencia High School student-athlete Maci Lawrence
There are times in life when you see someone spectacular. You might not understand why you are drawn to them, but you just are…
I felt this way on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the VHS v. Saugus Lacrosse game. I went in support of my great friend Olivia Nicholls, who plays for Saugus, as well as support the Valencia team which happens to be my Alma Mater.
Brand new to watching Lacrosse, I spent much of the first quarter picking up the rules and trying to understand the field play. It was in the second quarter that things fired up and I noticed one young lady in particular catching my eye… #1. The way she moved down the field with purpose and intent had my eyes locked in; she was incredibly exciting to watch. Scoring six of the nine goals that day, I can promise you will be reading about this young powerhouse for the next four to eight years as she plays high school and college sports.
Maci Lawrence is a Valencia High School freshman, and co-founder of Keep the Pressure; a local non-profit Maci and her sister Cambria started which provides bleed kits to every public Jr. high and high school in Santa Clarita. In her first year at VHS, Maci holds a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.8 while playing Lacrosse and studying with a special focus on Mathematics. The daughter of parents Bud and Regan Lawrence, Maci enjoys traveling with her parents and sister Cambria when she isn’t in school or participating in extra curriculars.
Described as bubbly, caring and charismatic, by her dad Bud, I believe Maci is an extraordinary young woman who will have countless opportunities in life as long as she tackles them with the determination and grace, just as she carries herself on the field.
