Keep Grandma & Grandpa Safe!
Fundamentals, Fundamentals, Fundamentals! My basketball coach would always preach, it all comes back to fundamentals. So stay diligent with the things you’ve heard a hundred times….Wash those hands, social distance, and face coverings when you can’t, or are in public. Contact tracing is also important. Where has that person been that you are now interacting with? Asymptomatic (Not feeling sick oneself) spreading of COVID-19 is very prevalent, so when you come into contact with someone, you are coming into contact with everyone they have been in contact with, and everyone THEY’VE been in contact with, and so on, and so on! Protecting our seniors from this is paramount!
But with all of these physical precautions, keep mental health in mind as well. Our seniors are isolated, lonely, and depression is a concern. Comfort Keepers In-Home Care is deemed an essential service, and many times we are our client’s only contact. If you have an aging loved one who needs help at this unprecedented time, we are here to help. Companionship, proxy shopping or errands, in addition to the normal assistance we provide with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), personal care, help around the house, etc. I know it’s difficult explain to our kids why they shouldn’t see Grandma or Grandpa right now, but because of what I’ve described above, reducing their contact until we get a handle on this will keep them with us for hugs and hugs to come!
