SRD Straightening Reins The Months to Follow
SRD Straightening Reins continues to receive calls from families who are looking for ways to relieve the stress their children are feeling during this difficult time. As a result of these requests, a new program has been created called the Family Friendly Ranch Time. At a minimal cost of $25. per family, this program allows one family an uninterrupted hour visiting with the horses, mini donkeys, mini horses, goats and chickens while enjoying the serene atmosphere of a seven-acre ranch. During your visit, you will be asked to adhere to the physical distancing precautions and CDC guidelines.
If you are interested in setting up an appointment for Family Friendly Ranch Time contact Deborah Rocha at (661) 803-1641. To accommodate the heat, these visits will be held primarily during the morning hours. We look forward to spending this special time with your family.
A recent article in the Los Angeles Times dated May 7, 2020, stated, “Experts say that when kids return to campuses, the demand for mental health care will be greater than the available services, as the effects of the coronavirus disruptions cut across societal strata, affecting children throughout California…” To adapt to the uncertainty that parents currently feel because of the school closures, SRD is adapting their school-based program for junior and high school students to be held at either the school sites or at the Ranch for the fall semester.
SRD is an approved vendor for the victims of crime (VOC) program which is subsidized by funds through the State of California. The Los Angeles Times’ article further stated, “…while secluded at home during the coronavirus outbreak, more children than usual may witness substance abuse, neglect, violence or physical abuse…” Rest assured SRD Straightening Reins’ Mission is to improve adolescent and teen mental health and well-being through equine-assisted and interactive therapies and we will be there to assist your family as you make the necessary transitions in the months to follow.
For information regarding the VOC program or others that SRD offers, please call the telephone number above or visit our website https://srdstraighteningreins.org.
