4th of July Celebrations: Ways to Celebrate with Seniors
The 4th of July is often an exciting day of summer that involves friends and family coming together for a bunch of delicious food, fun outdoor activities, and, of course, to celebrate America’s independence. But this year, due to COVID-19 and social distancing, your 4th of July probably won’t look like it has in years past. But that’s no reason to cancel your celebration; there are still plenty of fun 4th of July activities that you can do and still safely practice social distancing.
Participate in a backyard BBQ – family time grilling burgers and hot dogs while playing lawn games is a fun way to celebrate.
Have a patriotic sing-along – Yankee Doodle, you’re a Grand Old Flag and America the Beautiful are just a few traditional 4th of July songs. You can get the words off the internet and print out so that everyone can sing along!
Prepare a patriotic desert or drink – red, white and blue decorated cookies or colorful fruit skewers with berries are fun and easy to prepare. A 4th of July themed beverage is a way to keep the holiday theme and ensure that everyone stays hydrated
Create a patriotic craft – make flags or hats and have a parade
Whether you want something relaxed or adventurous, this list will give you plenty of ideas for some fun 4th of July activities that you can do with your family. Be sure to bring a light jacket for the evening to keep them warm at night.
