2020-2021 School Year Will Begin in the Distance Learning Format
The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant obstacles for our community in the areas of health and wellness, finances, and other emotional strains. In a matter of just weeks, we were suddenly faced with a new normal. As an elementary school district in the Santa Clarita community, we were once again reminded of how blessed we are to work with and provide education for the resilient and caring families that we are lucky enough to call our students.
The Newhall School District is committed to continuing to put our students first. Over the past three months, we have been planning and preparing for what the reopening of our schools will look like in the fall, and how we can be provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff.
We have utilized the information provided by the State of California Public Health Department and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to best craft a reopening plan that will serve our students, while keeping them safe and the pandemic at bay.
We have also utilized the many surveys that our Newhall School District families have completed. The answers provided played a vital role in our decisions regarding the 2020-2021 school year. We thank each and every Newhall School District family for your cooperation, support, and input during these trying times.
The 2020-2021 school year will begin in the Distance Learning format. Once deemed safe by LA County Health Officials and the Board of Trustees, the students may transition to the Blended Learning model. This is a combination of both in-person teaching and distance learning. Smaller class sizes will meet either in the mornings or the afternoons four days a week for in-person instruction. When not in school, the students will be engaged in online digital learning. Students will also have the option to participate in our Digital Learning Academy model all year.
More information regarding the new learning platforms will be provided to each of our Newhall School District Families, and as always, please feel free to contact our district office with any questions that you may have.
If you would like to enroll your child in one of our ten award winning schools please contact Rosana Valadez. Enrollment is open to all elementary school students.
