What is lasers in Dentistry? With the many advancements in techniques and technology in Dentistry,it is now easy more than ever to achieve healthy gums and mouth .
A laser is a device that uses light energy to perform a normally complicated procedure to an easy ,painless and at the speed of light .Lasers are unique because they can treat targeted tissues while leaving surrounded healthy tissue unaffected. It is this property among others that allow your dentist and hygienist to perform very precise procedures. In addition, lasers seal off blood vessels and nerve endings during a procedure lessening bleeding, postoperative pain and swelling. Due to the gentle and precise nature of lasers, it is used with little or no anesthetic at all.
Lasers are used to attack periodontal inflammation at the microscopic level of infection. Lasers kills periodontal infections even before they have a chance to cause irreversible damage. The power of focused light destroys otherwise inaccessible bacterial colonies while simultaneously creating an ideal environment for healing.
Today, our practice offers our patients the hope of providing good oral heath care in ways that were science fiction only a few years ago. Using lasers on top of different scaling techniques not only ensure in keeping the gums healthy but also in providing patients optimal treatment easily and economically.
