Feeling Your Best is a Phone Call Away
As technology becomes more and more advanced lasers have become a safe, effective treatment for multiple cosmetic concerns.
Laser resurfacing is one treatment that can reduce wrinkles or skin blemishes and acne scars. The technique itself is the direction of short pulsating bursts of light in a concentrated beam into irregular skin. It then removes the skin layer by layer precisely fixing the area. It often works better for those with a darker skin tone.
There are two types of lasers most commonly used in resurfacing: carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium. Both only vaporize cells in the skin that have been damaged on a surface level in a fractionated method.
The CO2 laser uses the pulsing light energy in a scanning pattern to remove skin layers and has a short recovery time of two weeks with no need for pain medication. The Erbium Laser resurfacing is made to remove both surface level blemishes and deep line and wrinkles on face, gland, neck, or chest areas. This erbium laser has the benefit of a decreased amount of burn on surrounding tissue and reduces the side effects of swelling and bruising. The recovery time is faster than laser resurfacing with a CO2 laser, about a week, but it depends on the person and the procedure.
This method of cosmetic dermatology has also been used to treat issues such as warts, scars, enlarged oil glands in the nose, and wrinkles.
Most often laser surgery does not require an overnight stay and the doctor will give you general anesthesia depending on the extent of skin you would like treated. A full-face treatment can take at most two hours, but for smaller sections, only 30 minutes is required. The area will generally heal in 10 to 21 days and swelling of the area is normal.
This Laser Resurfacing is the equivalent of a light touch up in a photo or quality restoration as the skin will become softer, smoother, and fresher. Do something for you and explore your options today.
