“Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful”… So Bring on the FALL!
If you are over the summer heat, then it is time to bring on the Fall! Autumn is a season of change and favorite time of year. It is a time of pumpkins and haybales, changing leaves, fragrant spicy cinnamon drinks, and of course, Halloween haunts, some tricks but mostly treats. The kiddos are gaining confidence in school, parents catch a breath, and each home starts to transition for the two biggest family holidays of the year. We are also in transition. Away goes the beach wear, the ocean inspired knick-knacks, and summer market faire to be replaced by “Grandpa’s Candy Lab” and our own version of a wood cabin home. In clothes and handbags, we have an array of colors reminiscent of autumn leaves with names like Sagebrush, Port, Acorn, and Chocolate. Fall’s colors are a rainbow of hues that you can dress your home with excitement and childlike zeal- candy for eyes and only second to that other time of year…(but we won’t talk about that right now!) Just like you, we are setting the stage for a warm, inviting family loving home and can’t wait to share all the wonderful offerings only Fall can bring. But here is some food for thought- even as things seem awkward and we are still trying to find “the new comfortable”, there are some things that never change. Family traditions like cooking, family dinners, or gathering for family movie night, and showing love, appreciation, and gratitude for each other as we head towards Thanksgiving do not change. There is comfort in that. In this new landscape we can add leaving special care gifts on doorsteps- gifts that you can put heart into whether its leaving baskets of soup, breads, pastries, candles, a cozy scarf, or a thoughtful card. Some get together for Happy Hour in groups through Zoom with a new funny glass that everyone can toast with to remember this crazy and unique time. The common thread that Fall brings us is the feeling of connection, reflection, and tradition. As long as we remember the things that make us come together- no matter how far we stand apart- we can bring in a new season with hope, home, and community. Be sure to stop by!
