A Great Way to End a Challenging Year
As we come to the end of an especially stress filled year, the SRD Straightening Reins Foundation would like to invite you and your children to join them in an upcoming event, Holiday at the Ranch, a Virtual Experience on December 12, 2020. There will be a message from Santa Claus, musical entertainment, and a cookie decorating demonstration with Master Chef Junior, Malia Brauer. For those of you that don’t know her, Malia was a finalist on season seven of Master Chef Junior where she wowed the judges and viewers with her mature demeanor and skills in the kitchen and represented the Santa Clarita Community at the competition.
This is a great opportunity for your children to decorate a cookie alongside a young “seasoned” chef and what an inspiration she can be for them. Your family will meet the SRD herd and receive a holiday greeting from the Board of Directors and its Founder, Deborah Rocha. Tickets are $25.00 per box for a family of four and $5.00 for each additional member. The holiday boxes will be picked up at the Ranch at 6:00 p.m. the evening of the event and the production will begin at 7:00 p.m.
When services closed down in March due to the pandemic and guidelines were published by the CDC, the SRD Ranch remained open for individual counseling. The professional staff knew the importance of providing services for those children who were experiencing escalating depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. At a time of extreme uncertainty and confusion, restructure of the smaller support group services was developed to allow youth to return to the peacefulness of the Ranch and work with the herd. A free weekly grief support group for teens began on Sundays in November to help youth learn desired coping tools, allow them to process their feelings and communicate effectively. CDC standards are always maintained. For more information about the grief support group or other SRD programs, email: debbie@srdstraighteningreins.org.
The staff and volunteers at SRD Straightening Reins wish your family a safe and wonderful holiday season.
