Staying Healthy in the New Year
As one year ends and the new year begins, we often look for ways to improve our health, shed extra pounds from enjoying our favorite foods and treats over the holidays. It is time to reset our routine and let go of unhealthy habits. Following are some tips to help you have a long-lasting success and improve your over-all health.
If you smoke, take steps to quit. Check out online workshops and resources. Limit alcohol intake. Set easy goals. Break goals into small parts that can be encouraging. For instance, if you are trying to lose 20
pounds in a month, maybe start by losing 1-2 pounds a week. Walk or run for 20 minutes a day to build up to reaching a goal of walking or running a marathon.
Reboot your diet. Clean out cabinets and refrigerator. Get rid of fattening, sugary foods and snacks like chips and sodas. Buy healthier snacks such as fruits and vegetables. Drink more water. Remember, you are what you eat.
As the new year starts, this is also a good reminder to take care of yourself too. Self-care is important. It is not at all selfish to pamper and treat yourself from time to time. Last year has been difficult for everybody, staying at home proved that it affected our mental and emotional health. Take time to take a break when overwhelmed. Make it a point to set aside time in your day for peace and relaxation. Don’t forget that health not only includes visiting your medical doctor, it should also include visiting your dental professionals. The pandemic has proven to wreaked havoc on dental health. We’ve seen a lot of dental problems arise from the excessive stress covid had thrown at us. Remember to brush and floss at least twice daily. As you schedule your annual check-up with your doctors, make sure to pay your dentists and hygienist a visit!
For any questions or concern, you can call Dr. Kimberly A. Rosen, DDS at (661)255-2545.
