Setting the Mood
Spring has sprung! Bring a little bit of spring inside with easy updates that will transform your whole bedroom. New pillows, slipcovers, draperies, and window treatments can make a big difference. Use spring as your inspiration to motivate yourself to make some simple changes in your home.
Starting in the master bedroom, change out your sheets, duvet cover or comforter, and throw pillows to a new spring design. A new slipcovered or upholstered headboard with a neutral fabric will add a new feel to your bed. The bedspread should be inviting with a nice organic floral print and add some decorative pillows in different sizes to coordinate. A pleated bed skirt will soften the look of the hard frame of the bed.
Windows are a great place to lighten up your room. A nice roman shade on the inside of the window with a coordinating fabric to match the bedspread will transform the room. Add some stationary window panels on the outside of the window to frame out the look. Hang the panels up with some new decorative hardware – wooden poles or wrought iron will add a nice touch to any window.
If you have a window seat in your room, complete the feel with a new slipcover. A nice organic neutral fabric that coordinates with the bedding will again make the room feel inviting. Add in a few more toss pillows in a spring motif and the look will soon be completed.
Even the smallest change, like a new lampshade will make an impact. Bring in some green potted plants or spring flowers to really set the mood. Be creative and inspired from the out-doors in. Start in your bedroom and begin to transform your home into your sanctuary.
