Spring Forward! Have We Got Free Classes at COC for You!
While the spring semester at College of the Canyons is in full swing, it is not too late to enroll in a class to begin pursuing your goals. Did you know that among the more than 200 short-term classes being offered this spring semester, more than 80 of them are FREE classes?
Offered through the college’s School of Personal and Professional Learning (PPL), these classes are the perfect fit for anyone looking to learn a new skill, explore personal interests or complete high school education.
Our economy is constantly changing, and with it comes the need to continually learn and adapt to new technologies and industry methods. PPL classes provide lifelong learning classes to residents of all ages and skill levels, at no cost! From English as a Second Language (ESL), to career skills courses in time management and strategic job search, there is something for everyone.
Registration is still underway for spring PPL classes, some of which have start dates as late as May 10!
We are especially excited about the introduction of two new courses that will help animation students looking to enhance their skills using Maya—the 3D computer animation software—or those who simply want time in a Maya lab with instructor feedback.
MEA 031 (Maya User Certification Training I – 3D Modeling) and MEA 035 (Maya User Certification Training II Computer Animation) cover specific topics in Maya modeling and surfacing, as well as animation and special effects. These classes are repeatable and will be offered each fall and spring semester.
What’s so great about these free courses? They do not appear on your transcript and have no effect on your GPA! This means you can enroll in these classes free of charge, but still receive instruction by a COC animation instructor with several years of industry experience. You can practice or complete class projects (in and out of class), ask questions, and brush up on the latest version of Maya. Students who complete the two-course sequence will also obtain a certificate and become eligible to take the Autodesk Maya Certified Users Exam.
You can enroll in these classes as late as April 15! They will be held online and OnlineLive (via Zoom).
