Season of Hope and Renewal Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital
After a long winter there is an excitement about the start of spring. Spring is a time of rebirth, rejuvenation, and regrowth. This year, it represents a season of hope and renewal for the community of care at Henry Mayo. The past year has made all of us stronger and more resilient as we worked together to overcome the challenges of the pandemic, and ensure that our mission of “Safe In Our Care” was at the forefront for our entire staff. Our dedicated emergency room doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to protect and provide life-saving treatments to patients experiencing the most difficult health crisis. Winter has moved on and spring has set in, the vaccines arrived giving hope and promise.
The season of hope and renewal is well underway at Henry Mayo. On March 1, the hospital began performing elective and other surgeries. As COVID-19 cases decline and positivity rate remains low, the California Department of Public Health has advised that we can begin to re-open our campus to visitors. It is exciting to be able to welcome visitors back to Henry Mayo! The simple act of allowing a relative or friend to visit is an important part of the healing process for a vast majority of our patients.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the community response was profound. From our business partners and local government agencies, to local quilting guilds, people from all walks of life quickly reached out to offer help and assistance. The outpouring of care and support from the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond was overwhelming and inspiring.
“Safe In Our Care” is Henry Mayo’s commitment of using processes and procedures to provide the best quality healthcare while keeping all of our patients and visitors safe. There’s no greater reward than when a patient with a challenging health crisis overcomes all odds and is released into the arms of family and loved ones. This was the story of Jim Mastrobuono, an early COVID-19 patient who battled the disease and celebrated a triumphant recovery with the entire Henry Mayo family. Over the past year, we’ve tested over 23,000 people, successfully discharged 1000, and have distributed 38,000 life-saving vaccines to the community.
There are no words to express our gratitude to all of our supporters whose generosity helps in providing the highest level of lifesaving services and quality healthcare. It is only with the community’s continued support that we can ensure access to groundbreaking and innovative advancements in healthcare for the Santa Clarita Valley.
