What’s New With SRD Straightening Reins
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and now more than ever we are seeing families that are in need of crucial outlets to work through their mental health challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As we are starting to see the world open up again, SRD Straitening Reins wants to remind our community that we are here to help navigate these challenges with our equine-assisted programs (EAP).
SRD Straightening Reins has increased our programs by partnering with NEW, a non-profit organization that helps connect women with their own sense of power and economic mobility. SRD will be providing EAP to single mothers and their children as they work to make a better life for themselves. SRD has also expanded our LGBTQ+ programs after listening to the needs of the youth and implemented these strategies to better their outcome.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, SRD is launching a change the stigma campaign where we have enlisted the help of community leaders and our board to submit videos about mental health. Our hope with these videos is to show the Santa Clarita Valley we are in this together and its ok to admit you may be struggling with mental health challenges.
