5 Tips for Easy Hearing Aid Care
Your hearing aids are an important investment, so you need to make sure they are well take ck out these quick tips!
1. Avoid moisture.
Unless they are waterproof, hearing aids can be easily damaged by moisture. Always remove your devices before swimming or showering and store them in a dry place. If you live in a humid area, you may want to keep them in a hearing aid dehumidifier.
2. Change hearing aid batteries often.
Batteries can cause damage if they are left in for a long time. Moisture from the batteries can get trapped and corrode your devices. To prevent this, make sure to change your batteries frequently and leave the battery door open when you are not using your devices.
3. Keep devices free of earwax.
Earwax is one of the leading causes of decreased performance in hearing aids. While, it’s impossible to avoid getting earwax on your devices, you should clean the receiver and the microphone with a dry cotton swab or a toothbrush. You will also need to replace the wax filter or guard.
4. Always handle with care.
Hearing aids can be durable, but they still should be handled with care. When changing batteries or cleaning, set them on a soft surface like a towel. Be sure to store them in a safe place when they aren’t in use.
5. Schedule routine cleanings.
While cleaning and taking care of your devices at home can greatly improve the life of your hearing aids, you should still bring them in to be properly cared for by a professional.
