Grandmother’s China
Your grandmother has bequeathed her set of china to you. You remember how carefully she set her table, how much she loved those dishes. However, you might not like them, and know you will probably never use them. You can transform them into something special if you will donate them to the Assistance League Resale Store.
When you bring your donation to our back gate on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday from 10:00 AM through noon, you will be greeted by member volunteers who will assist you and offer you a donation receipt. Then the transformation begins. Your donation will be received into the proper department, and a lovely display will be arranged on our sales floor. We might add some beautiful crystal or silver pieces that have been donated. Next, someone will love your beautiful china, and will happily purchase it while picturing it on their table for a special occasion.
Our philanthropic program, icare for kids, will then put the money from this purchase to work. This program provides eye examinations and eyeglasses for children whose families cannot afford to purchase them. Shortly, a young teen will finally be seeing the board in the classroom clearly, and school performance will improve. Perhaps she will see for the first time that trees are actually composed of individual leaves, or that street lights do not have halos around them. That box with new glasses will introduce her to a whole new world. A younger child like Kayla sees this new world and cannot help but touch her new eyeglasses in wonder. The transformation is complete. Your grandmother’s china has created the opportunity for children in need to have eyeglasses, truly something special.
