Celebrating Traditions at Oakmont Senior Living
One of the things I love most about Oakmont Senior Living is our Traditions Memory Care Program. In addition to the many floor plans and luxurious amenities offered in Assisted Living, we offer specialized care in a beautiful and secure part of the building for those with advancing dementia. We call it “Traditions”, because we celebrate the generational customs that belong to every person who lives here. Often, when someone has dementia, it’s the long-term memories which remain intact, while the short-term memories disappear. We capitalize on our resident’s long-term recollections which bring them comfort and joy. We can only do that when we get to know each of them extremely well, learning their own personal history, which might include favorite foods, favorite music, and the long-term favorite memories which can bring about joyous moments in the present.
I know that in today’s society, the idea of a memory care environment has a bit of a negative stigma attached to it. It’s nothing we ever hope that our aging loved ones will need in terms of care. I am inviting you to be surprised and delighted when you visit our state-of-the-art, Traditions Memory Care Program. At Oakmont, what we offer is a light, bright, beautiful community full of hand-selected, experienced team members who support our residents with the utmost compassion and care. Our residents are encouraged to engage and connect with others through purposeful and meaningful activities. Whether it’s a brain fitness game to enhance cognition or a music class that reminds residents of their past, our customized activities stimulate conversation, increase social connection, and allow for new and fulfilling experiences every day.
We have the largest floor plans of any assisted living or memory care community in Santa Clarita, but we also offer companion suites which are more affordable options. Call (661) 568-6080 to schedule your tour of Oakmont of Valencia or Oakmont of Santa Clarita. The fist step to experiencing the best in senior living is to pay us a visit!
