Supporting and Serving Our Military and Veterans
May was a busy month at the Shop. We began the month by helping the LAPD Hollywood Memorial Ride Team by selling their Memorial T-shirts, Challenge Coins and patches to raise funds for the Ride Across America honoring fallen officers. The team cycled 2,980 miles across America from Hollywood to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC. Later in the month the Commando Military Surplus Team traveled to Savannah Georgia to sponsor and participate in the Nine Line Foundation’s 4th Annual Run for the Wounded. This is the second year that Commando Military Surplus has sponsored this event that raises money for US Combat Wounded Veterans.
This year’s Run for the Wounded took place at historic Grayson Stadium at Daffin Park in beautiful downtown Savannah, Georgia, home to the Savannah Bananas baseball team! We are thrilled to announce that we helped raise over $65,000 towards the construction of a handicap accessible home for Retired Marine Corps SGT Eric Morante! On April 20, 207 Eric lost his right leg and shattered his wrist when a suicide bomber detonated a truck with 3,000 pounds of explosives under a bridge his squad was guarding in Iraq.
We are extremely proud to have been a part of raising funds for both of those organizations. Commando Military Surplus has a long-standing history with Santa Clarita, established around 1980. We specialize in selling military apparel and camping gear as well as provide excellent customer service to our veterans and community. Providing quality Military surplus, tactical gear, and emergency preparedness supplies to Santa Clarita, Commando Military Surplus is also a proud supporter of the U.S. Combat Wounded Veteran with Nine Line Apparel. According to the website, “In the military, a Nine Line is a medevac request for a soldier that is injured on the battlefield. To soldiers, a Nine Line symbolizes patriotism, hope, and trust in one’s countrymen.” It’s an important part of our mission to support Veterans, employ Veterans and promote brands that share in his same message of patriotism.
Commando Military Surplus is located at 24319 Main Street in Newhall; 661-259-7440. Visit www.Commandomilitarysurplus.net.
