How Do I Know If My Cat Loves Me?
Cats communicate with us in a non-verbal way. Here are a few signs that your cat is saying “I love you!”. The first sign most cat owners will know, that is they bring you presents. If your cat has access to the outdoors, these gifts will usually consist of birds, lizards, mice, or other small creatures. Sometimes you may only get part of the gift and that is ok because it is the thought that counts, right?! If your cat is indoors, they may bring you a favorite toy. This is a really good time to toss the toy across the room because you may engage them in a game of fetch! The second sign is they want to hang out with you! Cats in general can be aloof, so when a cat brings you their attention, perhaps some meows or little chirrups and rubbing up against you, that means you are their favorite human. The third sign is when they are relaxed and make direct eye contact with you. If they give you a slow blink, that is a sure sign that they not only love you, but they trust you. This is known to be the ultimate sign of I love you from a cat. Give them a slow blink right back. This will tell them you love too! The fourth sign is head or tail rubbing. Cats have sent glands in their face and at the tail base. When they rub themselves up against you, they are saying “I love You!” and rubbing their scent on you. The Fifth way your cat is telling you they love you is they will show you their belly. Now do not mistake this for an invitation to rub their belly. I know it is hard, the struggle is real! Some cats may like their belly rubbed but in general it is a no pet zone for most cats. The final sign is they are making biscuits! This is when they move their paws up and down, usually purring at the same time. This is a natural behavior from when they were nursing on their Mom. Cats make such great pets, now you know how they are communicating to you. For all your cat needs, call The Cat Doctor at 661-259-5288.
