Comedy and Workshops Coming to the CTG this Summer!
The Santa Clarita premier of the Broadway Comedy, SOMETHING ROTTEN, opens May 14th and plays through June 18.
The year is 1595… Shakespeare is a Rock Star. A rival acting troupe, led by Nick and Nigel Bottom, are starving because they can’t compete with “The Bard.” They need something new! Exciting! Never done before ….Soooo…Nick visits a Soothsayer and asks what will be the newest, hottest thing in theatre in the future? The Soothsayer tells him that plays will have songs and dancing in them. Nick decides they will invent the MUSICAL to compete with William Shakespeare! Things do not go as planned. The result? The funniest musical comedy ever written! It’s outrageous! It’s hysterical! It’s SOMETHING ROTTEN! (in Denmark)
Celebrating over 20 years as the Gold standard of Summer Youth Workshops, the Canyon Theatre Guild is excited to announce three great shows that our youth will be producing this coming summer. Every aspiring actor has a part to play in the summer workshop shows! CTG STARS (13-17) brings you Disney’s DESCENDANTS: the MUSICAL! A brand-new musical comedy featuring the beloved characters and hit songs from the films! CTG JRS (10-13) premiers the exciting MARVELOUS UNIVERSE: the MUSICAL. Mediocre Man has trouble making his mark. But when heroes start mysteriously losing their powers, he might have just what they need to save the day! CTG KIDS (reading -10) goes Dark Ages with “MEDIEVAL MADNESS & the QUEST FOR GOOD MANNERS! The Kingdom is in an uproar! An evil witch has cast a spell banishing good manners and now no one is getting along! It’s up to a couple of inexperienced (but loveable knights) Dancelot and Gwendolyn to face the Black Knight, the sorcerers, alchemists, a family of Dragons and even the Damsels (not in distress) to complete a quest to bring harmony back to the castle. Filled with laughs, songs and dances, there’s something fun for everyone!
