Summer Camp at The Gilchrist Farm
Gilchrist Farm Summer Farm Camp is the perfect way to celebrate summer! Get off technology and get outside on the farm! Learn to ride horses or advance your current riding skills. Get to know the cows, horses, pigs, sheep, goats and bunnies! Learn traditional crafts (soap and candle making), play in the mud! Run. Adventure. Explore! Our entire camp is OUTSIDE! We have SHADE, misters, and so much to do. Shear a sheep, milk a goat, pet a cow, gather eggs, run with the piglets! The total price of camp for 2022 is $375 per camper, per week. Choose one week, two weeks or all! Camp hours are 8AM-2PM. Camp is designed for ages 5-11, with a counselor in trainer designation for campers ages 12-16.
You can get details about MINI CAMP for our youngest campers HERE. Campers are grouped by age in smaller groups/cohorts with individual counselors. Counselor in Training group for 12–16-year-olds includes a leadership component, more advanced riding program and activities geared exclusively for older kids! Our Extended Day Program runs from 2PM-6PM daily, costs $25/day or $100/week and includes low key activities like board games, art projects, crafts and extra time to play with the animals.
Gilchrist Farm Summer Farm Camp Includes: Horse care, grooming, riding and an end of the week horse show! Learn how to groom, tack up, and ride horses or enhance your current riding expertise by trying something new. End the week with a super fun horse show (with ribbons and prizes). We explore English, Western, Driving, Mounted Archery and more!
Milk goats, gather eggs, pet pigs and bunnies, feed the ducks and tortoise, enjoy the horses and take the mini mule for a walk! Learn about gardening, composting, and raising your own food. Watch eggs hatch and learn to care for chicks!
Country Arts & Crafts galore! Soap and candle making, leather working, rag doll making, and wood working.
Games! Milk jug bowling, horseshoes, corn hole, water balloon battles, tug o war, gunny sack races, and more! Water play, obstacle course, mud run & more!
Typical schedule- 8:00 -10:00 Horse care, grooming, safety, games, fun and lots of riding! Riding students are assessed and placed into appropriate groups for their skill level. More advanced riders are welcome, first-time riders are welcome! Advanced riders are welcome! Archery! Learn to shoot arrows or advance your skills. By the end of the week, we combine the two-learn to shoot arrows from horseback! Mounted Archery is always a camper favorite!
10:00-12:00 (Snacks) Goat milking, small animal adventures, egg gathering, animal care and fun with animals! Holding chicks, brushing pigs, learning about life on the farm, trying out new adventures! We work with the wool from our sheep each week learning how to clean, card and spin the wool into yarn!
12:00-2:00 Lunch, gardening, games, arts & crafts! Water play, obstacle course, snow cones and more.
