Toastmasters – Local “Outliers” Chapter Open to New Members “No Sitting on the Sidelines!”
Learning a new skill is like lighting a candle in a dark room. The warmth of the candlelight is so inviting that we can’t resist staring into its illumination. Lighting more candles to surround the first one in a group brings such a flow of energy that the mind and the heart are mesmerized…pulled in by the halo to imagine:
What would our world be if everyone’s candle was glowing and simultaneously filling the universe with outward accomplishment for the empowerment of all?!
When we light our own candle, the flame is our stated Intention in life. The glow defines to the world what is most important to us; what we have learned; what we have achieved; what gives us joy; and what we share. Our intention ultimately transports us, as if on a beam of light, to excel at what we choose to spend time doing.
This drive to excel is not at the expense of others. It is not to compete, but rather to encourage everyone to build their capacity to excel, as well! We learn; we are rewarded for paying attention and performing; and we represent. We are grateful for the experience that we acquire, and we treasure that experience.
If you are like many of us, you will put to good use every input and line of study to give your intention a boost. We offer the Toastmasters program and international organization to solidify your approach. Your confidence will soar, and you will find and expand your real anchor: communication skills are learned and will swell the reach of your glow and your flame!
In my career a big change for me occurred when I joined my first Toastmasters Club in 1993. That was my introduction to professional meeting management, my writing, and, of course, public speaking. It so changed my approach to my work, my support of my family, and life in general. My confidence then helped others feel comfortable, yet productive, when working with me or for me. I now appreciate that Toastmasters has been a major factor in solidifying my style overall.
I encourage you to resolve today to not live life sitting on the sidelines. We are a group of caring members, and we welcome guests to our meetings on Thursday nights to check us out. Glow with us. For information contact our VP of Education Tom Iland: 661-313-3323 or tom@thomasiland.com.
