Celebrating 10 Years as a Cat Friendly Practice

We are so proud to announce our 10th year as a Cat Friendly Practice as deemed by the American Association of Feline Practitioners. Unlike the American Animal Hospital Association or AAHA, the Cat Friendly Practice or CFP accreditation is just for cats. We continue to uphold our excellent standards of care for our feline patients every day. These standards are unique as they pertain to just cats and their needs while in our care. Some examples of these standards would include specialized equipment, cat products, special handling techniques, and continuing education for Doctors and team members in feline medicine. Our specialized equipment here at The Cat Doctor would include, a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, forced air patient warming units and digital dental radiology. With this equipment we can rapidly diagnose, keep kitty comfortable while in recovery, and see what could be lurking under the gumline.
Speaking of digital dental radiology, did you know a tooth can look completely normal above the surface of the gumline, but the roots can be causing terrible pain for kitty? Just like the human dentist, we always recommend dental x-rays for our standards of excellent care. We have many great cat-only products. Our “Happy Cat Kit” continues to be a very useful to “de-stress” kitty and therefore the client too! Feliway wipes are included in the kit but we also use Feliway throughout our hospital as a diffuser to create a less threatening environment. Special handling of your cat means that we approach each cat differently depending on their behavior. Handling of cats here is by trained team members only, under the direct supervision of our Doctors and our Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) Team. Our Medical Director, Dr. Megan Thomas, and our RVT, Alana, both have a Fear Free Certification. Safety for you, your cat, and our team members is of the up most importance to us. Lastly, is continuing education in Feline Medicine. Dr. Megan has focused all of her yearly continuing education on just feline medicine for many years now. Thank you for celebrating with us!
