J.R.’s Funnies – July 2022
People ask me when I became a Comedian. I believe that Comedians are given a gift, a heightened awareness. I think we see the world through a different prism, and we invite the audience to see the world through our prism. I can remember as a child thinking quite literally about things. For example, at the age of five in Sunday school they taught us the ten commandments. One of them was Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery. I did not know what that meant. I was five. I thought it meant acting like an adult. For ten years I thought I would go to Hell if I fell asleep watching TV with a beer between my legs. By the way, just what is the correct age to introduce a child to the concept of eternal damnation? Just asking.
One thing I know for sure is that we need more Comedy and Laughter in this world. We have been helping in our small way, by bringing the best comics in the country to Santa Clarita for the last 24 years. This month is no exception. We start out with two terrific young comics John Wynn and Paul Douglas Moomjean on July 2. Then on July 9 we have two big shows with Mike Guido from Dry Bar Comedy at 7:00 and Special Event Alonzo Bodden from Last Comic Standing at 9:00. On July 16 we have British comedian Matt Kirshen from The Jim Jefferies Show and on July 23 we have Las Vegas Veteran Ron Kenney. Finally we round out the month with local favorite and a fixture at J.R.’s Jeff Frame. I know there are new people moving in every day. Please come check out our cozy little Comedy Venue located inside Mimi’s Café. The food is great, the drinks a tasty and the Comedy is Top Shelf. Plan a party or ask us about a Fundraiser. We will put one together for you. We’ve raised tens of thousands over the years for charities, sports teams, and service organizations. Come join the fun! www.ComedyinValencia.com 661 259-2291
