A Note From the Publishers
There are months when we have double deadlines for production of élite Magazine and the Santa Clarita Magazine – it gets real busy – don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, in fact I’m elated that we are able to produce two magazines and deliver them directly into your home. One particular story in our September/October issue of élite Magazine inspired me so much I had to mention it. In a nutshell, in the Santa Clarita Valley we have a record-breaking couple, George Jiten and Jean Yoshiye Tsukashima have been married for 80 years! I am told that there are only four couples in the entire USA that hold this same record. It’s an amazing story and you can check it out here: https://bit.ly/elitemagseptoct2022.
Now on to this issue of the Santa Clarita Magazine! Another great cover, promoting two wonderful non-profit events right here in the SCV.
We are happy to feature Soroptimist International of Valencia and their 19th annual Bras for a Cause. The theme this year is Masquerade Gala, and it will be held at the Hyatt Regency, Valencia. This annual fundraising event benefits women in our community who are undergoing breast cancer treatment and recovery. Funds raised at this event will support Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center and Circle of Hope, both of which are wonderful nonprofits. I personally love this event and can boast that I actually own several of the beautifully decorated bras that are auctioned off. Tickets are still available, you can read the story on page 24.
Alzheimer’s is a debilitating disease that effects more than six million Americans. Statistics show that one in three seniors die of Alzheimer’s. The time to help is now! Walk to End Alzheimer’s is held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide. You can join the local chapter of Alzheimer’s who are featured on our cover, by visiting www.actalz.org. The 2022 walk will take place on Saturday, October 8 at Bridgeport Park. Registration starts at 8 am. You can volunteer, sponsor, donate or join a team today!
Over the next several months, we are pleased to include “Meet the Candidates”, a section that will feature people who are vying for a position on our local city council, school board or other important governing board. We encourage you to read their editorials and get to know them, voting is in November so be prepared.
I talked a little about élite Magazine at the start of my notes, but I have to say our Ultimate Awards for Home and Kids Activities are the best, whether you are looking for a professional home related business or a place you can be comfortable to take your kids, you need to check it out. We are now asking for nominations for your favorite restaurants, you can vote every day from now until September 9. Go to www.scvelitemagazine.com/ultimate-awards to vote today.
Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend, we will see you in October!
