Care Packages Sent In Loving Memory of Fallen Troops
Annual Patriot Day Care Packages were sent “In Loving Memory” of Santa Clarita’s fallen service members, post 9/11. Local non-profit Prayer Angels for the Military has been sending these special care packages to hometown troops since 2010. One of the ways these precious lives are honored and remembered. Our local troops also feel honored to receive such a package.
Honored were Robert M. “Robby” Wilson, Dean Glen Todd Jr, Richard P. “Ricky” Slocum, Cole W. Larsen, Jose Ricardo “Ricky” Flores-Mejia, Dennis L. Sellen Jr, Stephen E. Colley, John Michael Conant, Ian Timothy D. Gelig, Jake W. Suter, Rudy A. Acosta, Alan E. Colley and Stephen “Cajun” Del Bagno.
Packages were scheduled to arrive by September 25th ‘Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day’. Our country has designated the last Sunday in September to honor the families of American service members who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our lives and our liberties. Suzon Gerstel, CEO of the Prayer Angels said “ We can’t fill the hole left in the hearts of these families, but we can give them our love and gratitude and be sure that their loved ones are never forgotten”.
Prayer Angels for the Military also honors our fallen hometown service members with the annual presentation of ‘Santa Clarita’s Tribute to Local Fallen Troops’ in the 4th of July parade. After 19 years, they still keep the community busy sending thousands of care packages, putting many smiles on the faces of our troops. The Prayer Angel Team includes Blue Star Families, Gold Star Families and community members of all ages, sending packages to hometown troops all year. Contact Suzon or Dale to support the community programs. Tax deductible donations for shipping fees are needed to get holiday care packages out to our troops.
