What Does It Mean To Be Fear Free at the Vet?
Attention SCV! Have you heard about Fear Free? There is a movement happening in the pet industry… and it truly changes everything! The Fear Free initiative was created by Dr Marty Becker, DVM in 2016 and it is quickly gaining popularity. Its mission is to alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) in pets and educate and encourage the people that care for them. We have seen not only a significant impact in the veterinary world but Fear Free has also empowered and educated groomers, pet sitters, boarding facilities, shelters and even helps support pets in our own homes. For so many, this necessary shift could not have come at a better time. Covid almost caused me personally to walk away from a career I was made for. It used to feel hard to help and covid made everything harder. Then Dr Jaimie Ronchetto, DVM brought the challenging, yet life changing Fear Free initiative to Cinema Vet and it was a much-needed breath of fresh air for so many. Now, I have never been more passionate about the work I get to do. I have the pleasure of serving as Cinema Vet’s Fear Free Ambassador! My job is to look out for the emotional wellbeing of your pet while at our clinic. My heart wants Fear Free for us all -our patients, our clients, and our staff. We are working hard to cultivate the kind of atmosphere we believe everyone desires and deserves. Fear Free empowers us to find a better way! We realize the toll that comes with ignoring fear, anxiety, and stress in our patients. We are trained to speak your pet’s language by constantly monitoring your pets body language. We avoid escalating any (FAS) responses and the result is a relationship built on trust and respect between you, your pet and our veterinary team. We have discovered that a little patience and practice can drastically improve everyone’s experience at the vet. I now get a front row seat to some seriously amazing transformations and victories! While covid seemed to take so much away from all of us, I do believe Fear Free has brought a much-needed revival and restoration for our industry. I am proud to announce that Cinema Vet has Fear Free Certified Professionals who look forward to serving SCV pets and any pet parents who are looking to “take the pet out of petrified” as Fear Free would say and “put the treat back into treatment”. And I couldn’t imagine a better way! Please do not hesitate to contact Cinema Vet for support creating the Fear Free experience we all deserve. Cinema Veterinary Centre is located at 23460 Cinema Drive, suite L in Valencia 91355, (661) 253-9300.
