A Note From the Publishers – December 2022
It’s the holidays, a time to be joyous and happy but it is with sadness that I tell you that our dear friend Margo Miller passed-away on November 6th. Margo was very much an icon in the Santa Clarita Valley, most people I know who are around my age will know her as the local fashionista and an influencer way before that was even a thing! Over the last several weeks, I have been working with her son, Steve de Seve who wrote a wonderful memorial piece for his mom, you will find it on the opposite page to these notes. In her life, Margo was a private person but as Steve writes, she was also a great business lady who took so much pride in everything she did. Her sense of fashion and style was pure perfection and to this day, most of her clients still own her timeless pieces, and they seem to show up at different events around town, twelve years after she closed her store. Both Moe and I have some wonderful memories of Margo that we will cherish. We at the magazine send our sincere condolences to Margo’s family and friends and we wish Margo a happy heavenly birthday on December 3rd.
November was a busy month for us here at the magazine, we attended back-to-back events, the VIA Bash, Soroptimist Fashion Show, SCV 40 Under Forty, Festival of Trees, Share the Love for the WiSH Education Foundation, all were uniquely different and fun and raised lots of money for our local non-profits. Our valley is such a wonderful place to live with so many great people volunteering their time to make life easier for people in need. You will see evidence of some of these events throughout this magazine in our On the Town segments documenting the movers and shakers who just happen to be the hard-working volunteers in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Have you visited Old Town Newhall recently? Take a stroll down Main Street, it’s looking very festive with the beautiful twinkling community Christmas Tree and the tree-lined streets which are full of Christmas lights. You will find the Canyon Theatre Guild (CTG) on Main Street and if you really want to get into the Christmas spirit go and catch the show White Christmas, now showing until December 22nd. Every show I have seen at CTG has been great, I have never been disappointed. The participants are just wonderful, full of enthusiasm and dedication, it is because of this that we are so happy to feature just a few of the cast on our cover this month. It makes for a great family night out and I encourage you to get involved this holiday season and throughout 2023.
Also on our cover this month are the Elves of JCI Santa Clarita, they have partnered with businesses in our community to raise funds and to donate toys and gifts to underprivileged kids in the SCV. You can visit www.SantasHelpersSCV.com for more information and to donate to this great cause.
We wish you a very Happy Holiday Season with much love and joy and we look forward to seeing you all in 2023 when we will be celebrating our 33rd year in the Santa Clarita Valley!
Linda, Moe and Alexander Hafizi
