Merry Christmas
The Cat Doctor Care Team would like to wish you and your family, human and feline, a very Happy Holiday Season! This is a great time to say, “Thank You!” for the past year’s patronage.
Looking back at 2022, we are excited about all the new innovations that science has offered us to improve the quality of life for your cat that we have put into practice here.
Recently, Dr. Megan spent 3 days attending the American Association of Feline Practitioners conference. We are currently going through all the information and continue to implement new protocols in areas of diabetes, kidney disease, and hyperthyroidism. We are using new products, new equipment, and new laboratory services from all areas Veterinary Medicine has to offer. Including new areas of our facility.
Currently, the product we are most excited about is Solensia. Introduced this past October. This revolutionary product is a once-a-month injection for osteoarthritis. Solensia is a monoclonal antibody therapy – meaning it targets nerve growth factors. 77% of cat owners have reported improvements in mobility, comfort, and well-being. A large majority of our patients suffering from osteoarthritis are either seniors or geriatric in age. Cats in this age group are prone to kidney disease. The good news is that Solensia is approved and effective in cats with kidney disease stage 1 or stage 2. If you noticed your cat not grooming as much, trouble getting up on the bed, or hiding – let us help you get your cat back to him or herself.
On the equipment side, this past year we updated our ultrasound machine that Dr. Tracy had implemented back in 2014. Both of our Registered Veterinary Technicians, Alana and Raylene, are trained in abdominal and cardiac ultrasounds. We can now do ultrasounds on demand as we had done before. Although we still have our Internal Medicine Specialist and Cardiologist visit us for those tricky cases.
The improvements we have made with our new boarding facility are really impressive. Our playrooms and suites are really popular and a great option for your cat. The playrooms help your cat feel more comfortable as they have room to move around. You can rest assured they are being well cared for here at Dr. Tracy’s Cat Resort.
We are looking forward to 2023! We have many plans for The Cat Doctor next year, stay tuned for those exciting announcements coming very soon!
