Making Your Cat’s Visit a Better One
When visiting The Cat Doctor & Friends with your cat, you will notice all the friendly faces up front when you walk in our front doors. We kindly ask you to please fill out a Patient Intake Form. This is very similar to the form we fill out when we go to the human dentist or physician. This form helps us in diagnosing your cat by the information you enter. Since cats can’t tell us what is wrong, we depend on you to be their voice. Even though it seems like they are talking to us when they meow at us. On the form we will want to know things like if your cat is vomiting, has diarrhea, and their litter box habits. It is important for us to know what your cat is eating, drinking water and if your cat spends any time outdoors. We want to know if we can give your cat a treat while here in our care even if it is a quick visit or several hours. We are building a relationship with your cat and treats will foster that relationship. You may sometimes find a little bit of treat on the face or in their carrier when you get home. We are mindful of your cat’s emotional state when visiting us. By working cooperatively with cats this increases human safety and lessens the fear and negative emotions your cat experiences when seeing the veterinary team. We are striving to set up future visits to be pleasant ones. The cat carrier is also an important part of the visit. Let your cat get familiar with their carrier by leaving it out, putting their favorite blanket in it, or use it in play. Ask us about the popular Happy Cat Kit or The Spa Kit. These kits will help relax kitty and lessen anxiety. We even have owners request one for them self! Which brings me to my next suggestion. The more relaxed you are, the better the visit for both you and kitty. Please give yourself plenty of time to safely get to the veterinarian’s office.
Our Patient Intake Forms also have an area that has your information listed. It is extremely important that you verify your information, so we know how to reach you. Especially in an emergency situation. We are currently seeing patients in exam rooms and we will review the information on the form with you at that time. Together we will come up with a plan for treatment as needed and a plan for future visits. To make an appointment call 661-259-5288.
