A Note From the Publishers – April 2023

Our calendar is full, with many great local events including the three on our cover. Grab your Stetson and cowboy boots for a western-themed soiree and join Soroptimist International of Valencia at their Gentleman for a Cause event, slated for April 30 at the lovely Blomgren Ranch. Ten very “brave” community minded gentlemen have stepped up to help raise money for this very worthwhile cause. See the story on page 20.
On May 7, Child and Family Center will host their very popular 34th Annual Taste of the Town food and wine fest, this event raises funds for local families, adults, teens and children who are fighting mental health, drug and alcohol and domestic violence services. Read more on page 22.
Finally on our cover we are happy to support Circle of Hope and their latest event Hoedown for Hope which promises to be a very fun day at Gilcrest Farm. Enjoy activities including archery, axe throwing, cake walk, petting zoo as well as delicious BBQ and cocktails while listening to live music. More on page 24.
Moe and I are always so very proud of the accomplishments of our son Alex, but this month, we are particularly inspired by his nomination for the Man & Woman of the Year event being held at the Valencia Hyatt on Friday May 5th. There are many deserving nominees, but as proud parents we are obviously rooting for him, and we wish him the very best of luck!
After a three year hiatus, we are excited to see the return of the City of Santa Clarita’s Cowboy Festival, which will run April 22 and 23 and will take over Main Street in Old Town Newhall. We have the full schedule of events on page 32 so don’t forget to check that out.
If you are looking for other fun things to do in April, don’t forget to purchase your tickets for 14th annual “The Wine Affair”, organized by Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley. Enjoy live music, wine, and food as you stroll down Main Street in Old Town Newhall. This years’ theme is “Carnival” and promises to be a whole lot of fun.
Save the date for Wine on the Roof on April 27, this is a fundraiser for the WiSH Education Foundation, enjoy a sit-down dinner with multi courses, each paired with a different wine.
We are also looking forward to the SCV Senior Center Celebrity Waiter “Springtime in Paris” event, we always have so much fun decorating our table and dressing to coordinate with the theme, always a great time and such an important non-profit in our community.
The Canyon Theatre Guild open on April 30 with the Broadway musical Disney’s Newsies, known for its amazing dance numbers and this show will not disappoint with incredible choreography. Every show we have seen at the Canyon Theatre Guild has been really enjoyable, so keep theatre alive in the SCV by supporting this and future shows.
Don’t forget to check out our latest issue of élite Magazine where you will find the winners of our Ultimate Medical Awards, congratulations to all of the winners! If you are not receiving your copy of elite Magazine, please go on-line to subscribe.
Stay safe and happy spring!
Sincerely, Linda, Moe and Alexander Hafizi
