COWS – The Gentle Barn
At The Gentle Barn in Santa Clarita, we have two properties. One is our primary location, where we host tours, field trips, and cow hug therapy sessions, and open to the public on Sundays. The other is our much larger property, where we triage, quarantine, and socialize new animals and house our larger, younger cows who need more room. The cows at our Sun Chlorella Healing Center play, explore, and sunbathe and have become a family. But unfortunately, some of those cows are so traumatized by humans that even though they have come to trust us, they prefer to stay in the company of other cows and fewer humans and will most likely live there for the rest of their lives.
Some were brought to The Gentle Barn as babies and loved the affection of humans. They seek our attention, enjoy their morning grooming sessions, and follow us around, asking for more. Once they are seniors, we bring them to our primary location where the weather is milder, the ground is softer, water and food are closer, and they have much more attention from our guests.
This month we are happy to announce that our senior cows, Mercy and Roy, are coming to our primary location to live out their golden years in comfort. These gentle giants are twelve years old, which is up there for cows this large. They will enjoy the company of our other cows, the affection of all our guests, and healing treatments like acupuncture, massage therapy, energy healing, and music therapy. So please come for a visit, enjoy our animals, and help us warmly welcome Roy and Mercy.
The Gentle Barn is a national non-profit organization in Santa Clarita with locations in St. Louis, Missouri, Nashville, Tennessee, and one soon in New York. We are home to animals rescued from trauma and host to people with the same stories. We are open to the public on Sundays and host private tours, field trips, birthday parties, and cow hug therapy sessions.
