A Note From the Publishers – June 2023
“It was June, and the world smelled of roses.
The sunshine was like powdered gold over
the grassy hillside.” – Maud Hart Lovelace
Nothing could be truer than the lovely quote above, our gardens are brimming over with colorful flowers and our hillsides are greener than they have ever been, so bring on the sun, we are ready for it. Happy June!
We are so pleased to present three fabulous non-profit events on our cover this month, each are equally important, raising funds for some pretty awesome local non-profits.
Meet founder and all-around great guy, Jess Guidroz who is very happy to present VegFest SCV and their quest to help students and families in the Hart District to find homes, jobs and hope for a new beginning. You will find VegFest in Central Park on June 3rd from 2pm-8pm, where they will be featuring some pretty amazing vendors and everything that goes along with a great festival vibe.
Also, on June 3rd., the Boys & Girls Club present Auction 51, an out of this world experience that promises to be a little spooky while offering lots of fun. Raising money for the club has been, and will continue to be an important mission for the wonderful people who are organizing this event. So, kudos to Pamela and Dennis Verner on giving their all for the kids in our valley!
And last but certainly not least, on our cover you will find, singer/songwriter Terrell Edwards who will be performing at the Bridgeport Clubhouse on June 10 from 7 pm. Try not to miss this “Summer Breeze Concert Series” which will also raise funds for Alzheimer’s.
So many good people doing great things in our valley, we are happy to support all of them.
We return with our second focus on Old Town Newhall, there’s so much going on down Main Street it’s hard to keep up with the many new restaurants, shows and events happening there. Don’t miss the June 15th Senses on Main which promises to be both fun and it just might test your knowledge! Canyon Theatre Guild will continue into June with their shows Comedy of Tenors and Guacamole Queens, and The Main is offering everything from ‘80s Dress Up Night to Improv and a fabulous night of The Book Women presented by HOPE Theatre Arts. Please check out our Old Town Newhall section starting on page 56.
June of course is the month for all of our wonderful Dad’s & Grad’s out there and it wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t steer you to our great gift guide with some unique and interesting gifts for all the men in your life, see page 54 for more information.
Looking to keep the kids busy during the summer months? Our Kids Activities Guide on page 92 has some wonderful suggestions, from educational to just great fun!
We couldn’t end these publisher notes without thanking all of our wonderful advertisers who make this publication possible, we ask you to support local business and say you saw it in the Santa Clarita Magazine.
We wish you a Happy Father’s Day!
Until next time,
Linda, Moe and Alexander Hafizi
