New School Year Begins 8/10 – Newhall School District
By midsummer parents and kids alike begin asking the question, “When does school start? Three-fourths of the way through summer, parents and especially kids begin to say, “I wonder who my (my child’s) teacher will be.” And so the neighborhood conversation turns from summer activities to the new school year.
Preparation for the new school year really began before school let out for summer vacation. By the time our Newhall School students return to school, principals, assistant principals, teachers, office staff, facilities staff, nurses, PTA/PTO parent leaders and district administration have been working to get our schools ready for the 2023-2024 new school year.
We at the Newhall School District (NSD) are honored and privileged that you entrust us with your children and the enormous responsibility for their educational journey. Our Newhall School District works tirelessly to deliver a comprehensive instructional program that includes the visual and performing arts, and learning support for social and emotional growth. Our mission clearly states: Newhall School District students will become global citizens who think critically, solve problems, embrace diversity in people and viewpoints, and have a passion for learning and the arts.
Each year our Newhall students will learn, share and experience New Ideas! New Friendships! New Beginnings! That’s what we promise to deliver to every child at the Newhall School District, where our motto is, “Empowering Every Child Every day!”
The NSD recognizes that Family Engagement, and parents as partners in their children’s education is critical to their child’s success in learning and in their accomplishments. Each of our ten awarding-winning schools has multiple participation opportunities for our student’s parents and family members to learn how to support their student’s learning, what’s happening at school and in the District, as well as opportunities to plan school events and activities.
The Newhall School District is recognized as both a national and state award-winning elementary school district. All ten Newhall School District schools – McGrath, Meadows, Newhall, Oak Hills, Old Orchard, Peachland Avenue, Pico Canyon, Stevenson Ranch, Valencia Valley, and Wiley Canyon – are multi-year recipients of the much-coveted California Distinguished School Award. At Newhall School District, students achieve at higher levels thanks to NSD’s whole-student development philosophy, which combines the strengthening of students’ minds, bodies, and values.
