The Brittany Foundation Finding Their Forever Home – January 2024
A non-profit humane organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of homeless dogs, has several dogs for adoption.
MARLOWE
This feisty little fella was in a race against time in the South LA Shelter, and in immediate danger of being euthanized, before we were able to welcome him here to The Ranch. We were told he lived in one home for 11 years, and they surrendered him due to behavioral and medical issues. He’s been here for several months and is quite literally “the life of the party.” He is doing great with everyone, dogs his own size included, and takes no medication. He has energy for days, loves toys, and literally skips on his walks. If you are looking to add pure love and laughter to your life while giving a senior a second chance, he’s the guy for you.
LULU
She is part of a duo. Lulu gains confidence in the presence of Mimi and will need a patient adopter who understands these two have been through a lot early in their lives. She is sweet as pie but initially nervous and takes a minute before engaging with people; but once she does, she is a Velcro dog. The joy these two will bring to your home will be unparalleled. We know requiring them to be adopted together makes it more difficult, but once you see them together, you will understand why.
MIMI
She is curious, sweet, athletic, and definitely a “heart dog.” She is, however, a package deal because she is fiercely devoted to Lulu and everyone who volunteers here. These two have pretty much only had each other for quite some time now. Their person fell ill and entered hospice care, which is why they are here. We were told they were from the same litter and were only 3 years old. We think we see similarities, but we are not 100 percent sure. Mimi most certainly has the scruffy face and hair of a terrier, but she has the heart of an angel.
ANDY
This beautiful Bichon mix was labeled “Rescue Only” not too long ago at a county shelter before we were able to welcome him here. At first, he was pretty shut down and scared, but his personality now shines, and he’s acting like a puppy. We think he would do best in an adult-only home or a home with older kids, and it may take him a visit or two with a potential family to make sure it’s the perfect fit. We do require visits here to our rescue in Agua Dulce, CA, and in-person home checks for all adoptions. You can see Andy’s journey in video on his highlight reel on our Instagram page.
MIA
It was over a year ago when she was surrendered to us after her family lost their home. This super sweet senior is a volunteer favorite and actually the first dog that new volunteers meet, so that tells you a lot about her. She adores everyone, takes short leisurely walks, and if she could be placed with other animals, we are sure she would have been adopted a long time ago. If you, or anyone you know, are looking for a solo pitty princess, please send them our way.
BON BON
Not too long ago, she was on her final plea at a Los Angeles County shelter and in need of immediate rescue because she was labeled a medical case. It turns out that, after surgery to repair her eyes, she is perfectly fine. We think she is about 6 years old. She gets along with other dogs her own size, loves attention, and is very affectionate. She is an absolute delight and would make a perfect companion. Her charming personality is hard to put into words, but you can see more videos of this little star on our Instagram page.
LOUIE
This adorable 2-year-old Mauzer (Maltese and Schnauzer) was surrendered to us when his person became too ill to care for him and there were no family members who could take him in. He was terrified for the first few weeks he was here, but slowly started to trust us. He’s great with all of us and our volunteers, who are here regularly. He does well with other dogs, loves to go for walks, and every toy here at The Ranch ends up in his room. We think he has so much potential, but it may take meeting him here more than once before he is ready to call a new place home. An experienced adopter would be ideal for him. He’s a rare find and would surely become someone’s heart dog if just given the chance.
GEORGI
Look at this smiling beauty! She was left on a property to fend for herself when people moved. Our vet has estimated her age to be about one year old. We think she is most likely a Border-Aussie, which is a cross between a Border Collie and an Australian Shepherd. She certainly displays all of their characteristics. Georgi is smart, loving, curious, athletic, and would much rather be working than sitting still. She will need an adopter who understands her need to learn new things. She will do best in a home or on a ranch with room to run so she can reach top speeds during a zoomie session.
