Bring the Family For Some 10-Gallon Fun to the Cowboy Family Night April 19
Raising the Curtain Foundation has the perfect way to get your family in the mood for the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, coming to Hart Park on April 20-21. On Friday, April 19, three Western artists will perform on the Newhall Family Theatre stage with a unique program of beautiful music, hysterical hijinks, yodeling lessons and a fun singalong!
The show will open with festival favorite Kristyn Harris, a multi-award winning singer, songwriter, and entertainer known for her Western swing spin on original and classic songs. She is recognized for her powerful voice, swing rhythm guitar chops, songwriting, yodeling and energetic stage presence, as well as the passion and authenticity that she puts into each performance. And she has graciously agreed to take some young audience members under her wing during the show and teach them yodeling. Parents, prepare your neighbors, this could catch on!
Joining Kristyn will be two of the most original and beloved Western entertainers of our time, Sourdough Slim and his sidekick, Robert Armstrong. This pair of seasoned entertainers have some serious musical chops, playing everything from the guitar, banjo and ukulele to the accordion, steel guitar, musical saw and harmonica. Lending their heartfelt singing voices to a wide range of great originals and tunes from the ‘20s and ‘30s. Western swing, country blues, vintage jazz and cowboy classics interspersed with timeless comedy bits, they serve up a truly entertaining evening of family-style fun. Remember to thank Raising the Curtain Foundation when your child asks for accordion lessons!
The evening will culminate with a rousing singalong of a few popular Western tunes. This performance is a fundraiser for Raising the Curtain Foundation, which supports community programming at the Newhall Family Theatre (24607 Walnut Street, Newhall). Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids age 12 and younger.
