Come Put On A Show at the Canyon Theatre Guild with our New Summer Workshops!
Do you know any young actors destined to take the stage? Give them the BEST SUMMER EVER with the Youth Theatre Institute at Canyon Theatre Guild! The CTG summer workshop program has been producing shows for almost 25 years. The instructors are theatre professionals, award winning teachers, and working actors.
Let your young thespians experience the magic and fun of live theatre: singing, dancing, acting, and working together! Participants at CTG get the full experience of putting on a show on the main stage, complete with costumes, makeup, mics and more! With sessions from June-August, there will be Youth Workshops for children of all ages!
CTG KIDS, featuring students reading age to 10 years old, will perform Munchkin Mediation: Conflict Resolution in Oz. It’s one year later and all the famous characters have returned to Oz. They’ve been having trouble readjusting, and their quarrels have led to the throwing of more than one yellow brick. With the usual memorable tunes and silly humor, Munchkin Mediation introduces and reinforces strategies for controlling anger, using “I-statements,” active listening, sharing perspectives, and finding win-win solutions to conflict. Directed by Co-Founder of the Youth Theatre Institute and 1999 California Teacher of the Year winner Ingrid Boydston!
CTG JUNIORS, open to students 10-13 years old, returns with the new musical: Adventures in Myramor: A Video Game Quest. Join Alisha and her brother Thancred as they travel through the video-game world of Myramor as they fight monsters, sing with pirates, and traverse a candy island to save Princess Perfection from the clutches of an evil sorceress! Directed by CTG Director of Youth Programs and USC Alum Erin Sweeney!
CTG STARS, for teens ages 13-17, will perform a musical based on the Oscar-winning Dreamworks Animation film: Shrek JR. Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way. Directed by returning STARS Director, Katrina Negrete (Finding Nemo Jr.)!
