Immerse Yourself in the Beauty of Nature: The Butterfly Encounter at Gilchrist Farm
Step into a world of enchantment as you walk through a tent adorned with vibrant flowers, hosting a delicate dance of live butterflies fluttering all around you. Imagine holding out a sponge soaked with sweet nectar, attracting these graceful creatures to land gently nearby. This magical experience awaits you at the Butterfly Encounter, an event that not only captivates the senses but also offers an educational journey into the world of pollinators.
At the Butterfly Encounter, visitors have the opportunity to marvel at the mesmerizing beauty of various butterfly species, including Painted Ladies, Monarchs, Cabbage Whites, and more. As you bask in the presence of these winged wonders, you’ll also gain insight into the vital role they play in the ecosystem, particularly in the pollination of farms and flowers.
But the experience doesn’t end with mere observation. Visitors can take a piece of the enchantment home with them through caterpillar and lifecycle kits, host plants, seeds, and habitats available for sale. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or just beginning to explore the world of butterflies, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and learn from at the Butterfly Encounter.
Mark your calendars for the opening weekend of the Butterfly Encounter, coinciding with Mother’s Day weekend on Saturday, May 13th. The event continues through Father’s Day on June 18th, offering ample opportunities to indulge in this delightful experience.
The Butterfly Encounter is accessible during Farm Visits from 9AM to 2PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission to the exhibit is $5 for visitors aged 2 and up, with children 2 and under enjoying free entry with a paid adult. Alternatively, you can opt to include the Butterfly Encounter as part of a special event, such as the Mother’s Day Tea, or with an activity wristband.
