Embracing Patriotism, Community, and Fun in Old Town Newhall
Throughout US history, the qualities symbolized by our flag—courage, strength, purity, resilience, and justice—have been celebrated with backyard barbecues, parades, fireworks, and other festivities. The Santa Clarita Valley upholds this tradition, especially in Old Town Newhall. This area, spanning five blocks including Main, Market, Walnut, and Railroad streets, offers charming boutiques and delightful restaurants, providing memorable experiences.
Since 1997, Old Town Newhall has transformed into a vibrant district, blending modern developments with classic Western charm. Rich in history, it features landmarks and community traditions dating back to the 1930s. The annual Fourth of July Parade, originating in 1932, is a cherished tradition, celebrating patriotism and honoring our armed forces. Mayor Cameron Smyth highlights the city’s deep-rooted patriotism and anticipates this year’s parade, which remains a beloved event. Initially organized by the Newhall Saugus Kiwanis, the parade has been led by the American Legion Post 507 and the “Old West” association. Each year, thousands line the streets for this grand spectacle, a cornerstone of July festivities.
