Sports Performance Programs for School-Age Athletes – Henry Mayo Fitness and Health
Many young athletes use summertime to prepare for Fall and Winter sports, either by participating in sports-specific camps or working to improve their strength and conditioning.
Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Club offers year-round sports performance programs tailored to specific age groups. All programs are held in the club’s Performance Institute.
A degreed and certified coach leads every group through a proper warm-up, speed, power, strength training, and a stretching program.
All of Henry Mayo Fitness programs focus on movement education, injury reduction through posture and motor control, acceleration and deceleration training, multi-directional top speed and agility, explosive power, and proper functional strength and conditioning.
What follows is a brief description of each program:
Youth Sports Performance Programs
The Youth Athlete Program is designed athletes ages 8 – 12. The programs introduce young athletes to physical fitness and sport performance training. The focus is on a “Learn to Train” model that emphasizes play through awareness, balance, locomotion, agility, jumping, throwing and sprinting. Each daily session is 60 minutes long an is specifically designed to keep younger athletes engaged.
Middle School Sports Performance Programs
The Middle School Athlete Program designed for athletes ages 11-14. These are excellent ages to begin building foundations for athletic development. The emphasis is on a “Training to Train” model in which young athletes are taught the fundamentals of strength and conditioning in a safe environment. Each session is 60 minutes long.
High School Sports Performance Programs
The High School Sports Performance Program is designed for athletes ages 14-18. The program is intended to help athletes improve their performance and gain a competitive edge. This is a more structured program following a “Train to Compete” model, designed to improve strength, speed and power. Each session is 60 minutes long.
College Sports Performance Programs
Summer college athlete groups are designed for current collegiate athletes or those transitioning to the college level. This is a high-level program centered on preparing athletes for their upcoming school year. The program uses both an advanced strength training plan as well as a more intense conditioning program. Each session is 60 minutes long and is focused on ensuring athletes are healthy and ready for their competitive season.
